Within: A Sisterhood of Your Body

A year-long virtual sisterhood for somatic healing, IFS parts work, and remembering your body as sacred ground. Gathering every full moon.

“A living study, returned to again and again.”

Begins January 22, 2027

Your Body Has Been Carrying a Lot

It’s 2:47 in the morning, and you’re awake again.

Not because anything is wrong, exactly. Because your body hasn’t gotten the message that the day is over. Your jaw is tight. Your mind is running tomorrow’s list. Somewhere under the exhaustion is a feeling you can’t name, and you’ve learned not to look at it too closely.

By every outside measure, you’re doing fine. You show up. You remember everyone’s birthday, answer the email, hold the family together, and make it look easy. People tell you how strong you are, and you smile, because it’s easier than saying the truth: I don’t feel strong. I feel tired in a way sleep doesn’t touch.

You’ve tried to fix it. You’ve read all the books, done all the talk therapy, and tried all the supplements. Some of it helped. Some of it simply became one more thing you weren’t doing well enough.

And somewhere along the way, a quiet question arrived: What if the problem isn’t that I’m not trying hard enough? What if I’ve been trying to think my way out of something my body is still living in?

If that question has ever crossed your mind, I want to tell you something I wish someone had told me years ago.

I wasn’t always someone who taught people to soften. For a long time, I was someone who didn’t know how.

Growing up, I learned early that the safest thing to be was good, quiet, and capable. I grew up in a chaotic home, raised by my great aunt, and being the youngest, taught me I needed to be obedient in order to survive. I became very good at managing: my feelings, my surroundings, the way other people saw me. For more than a decade, I found ways to quiet feelings that never felt safe to feel.

From the outside, it looked like competence. On the inside, I was living a few steps away from my own body, as if it were something to control rather than someone to listen to.

I became a therapist because I wanted to help people heal, and I was good at it. But I was still helping from a distance, one more capable woman holding everyone else’s pain and very little of her own.

Then something shifted. Through years of my own therapy, and through training in Internal Family Systems and yoga therapy, I began to do something I had never done: I stayed. I stayed with the tightness in my chest, the clench in my stomach, the parts of me that had been working overtime to keep me safe. I learned to listen to them instead of fighting them.

The part of me I used to call my inner Bully turned out to be a protector who had been working for me all along. My inner Trouble-maker became an Advocate. And for the first time, I could feel anger, set a boundary, and sense something I hadn’t known was possible: safety inside my own body.

That didn’t happen in a weekend. It happened slowly, in rhythm, with support, over time.

For twenty years, I’ve worked alongside people in some of the hardest rooms in mental health care. I’ve led trauma-informed yoga in addiction treatment, run groups for eating disorder and trauma recovery, and sat with women in my therapy office who had never once been asked what their bodies needed.

I noticed the same pattern again and again. The women who struggle most are rarely the ones who aren’t trying. They’re the ones who have tried so hard, for so long, that their bodies never got a turn.

I also learned that a single breakthrough, a single retreat, or a single good session can open a door. But it can’t walk you through the rooms on the other side. Healing needs rhythm. It needs repetition. It needs other women who don’t flinch when you say, today is hard.

And I noticed what was missing. In most wellness spaces there was no room for my own lineage as a Filipino woman: my ancestors, the babaylan who once held healing for their communities, the understanding that none of us are ever separate from one another. I wanted that wisdom back in the room.

So I Built the Sisterhood I Wished I’d Had

What if this year, you stopped managing your body and started listening to it?

What if you didn’t have to do it alone, or all at once, or perfectly?

What if twelve full moons, a circle of women who understand, and a steady, gentle practice could teach your nervous system what it has been waiting to learn: that it’s safe to soften?

That’s Within.

Some Teachings Are Not Meant to Be Learned Once

There was a time when wisdom wasn’t delivered in a single weekend or a single breakthrough meant to fix everything at once. It was returned to, season after season, not because the teaching changed, but because the student did.

Your body holds this same kind of wisdom. Not something to master and move past, but something to keep listening to as your life changes, as your capacity deepens, and as old layers soften and new ones rise to be met.

What Is Within: A Sisterhood of Your Body?

Within is a year-long online women’s healing sisterhood that meets every full moon. Across twelve live gatherings, we move through the seasons, the elements, the chakras, and the archetypes of the feminine. We do it through somatic yoga, Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work, story, and ritual, and we gather every full moon to do it.

The circle is led by Leslie Slemmons, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and yoga practitioner in Bluffton, South Carolina, and it’s open to women everywhere. It is deeper work within the framework of somatic healing: slower than a weekend retreat, more spacious than a single class, and held by a community that walks the year with you.

This is deeper work within the framework of somatic healing. It isn’t a quick fix, and it isn’t a program to complete. It’s a practice to keep.

This May Be for You If…

  • You’re always “on,” scanning, planning, and bracing, even when nothing is wrong

  • Rest feels unsafe, undeserved, or impossible

  • You live with chronic pain, tension, fatigue, or a body that feels like it’s working against you

  • You’ve done the talk therapy and the reading, and you still feel disconnected from your body

  • You’re the capable one everyone relies on, and you’re quietly exhausted from holding it all together

  • You’re highly sensitive, a perfectionist, a creative, or a woman who learned early to override her own needs

  • You feel too much, or not enough, or swing between the two

  • You’re craving depth over another wellness hack, something that unfolds slowly the way real healing does

  • You feel pulled toward ritual, ancestry, story, and the sacred, and you want a clinically grounded space to explore them

Nervous system dysregulation looks different in every woman. If any of this sounds familiar, you aren’t broken. Your body learned to protect you, and it can also learn, slowly and safely, that it’s okay to soften.

If you read that list and felt something soften, you’re who this circle was made for.

What We’ll Explore Together

Somatic Yoga & Breath

Somatic healing works with the body directly, through sensation, breath, gentle movement, and stillness, to help the nervous system learn what safety feels like. Many women find it reaches places that insight alone doesn’t. Everything is adaptable for chronic pain, hypermobility, trauma, anxiety, and low-energy days. There is never a “right” shape.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Parts Work

A compassionate way of meeting the protective parts, inner critics, and younger parts of you who’ve been carrying the load. Over the year we’ll meet the Guardians, the Exile beneath the ice, the Flamekeeper, the Silencer, and the Truth-Teller, and we’ll practice leading from Self-energy. Leslie is certified in IFS Levels 1 and 2.

Story & Archetype

Each season brings an archetype (the Crone, the Maiden, the Mother, the Enchantress) and a story question to sit with. By year’s end, you’ll shape your own Return Story: what you’ve released, reclaimed, and remembered.

Ritual & Lineage

Earth rites, water ceremonies, candle rites, and breath rites mark each full moon. Woven throughout are Filipino indigenous psychology and ancestral wisdom, including anito (ancestral spirits), kapwa (shared self), loob (inner will), hiya, and the lineage of the babaylan, the women who once held healing and ritual leadership in their communities.

Why Gather With the Full Moon and the Seasons?

A rhythm can hold us when willpower can’t. Meeting every full moon gives the year a natural shape: a monthly pause to land in your body, take stock, and begin again.

Each month moves through an element, a chakra, an archetype, and a story question, and the whole year follows the seasons from winter’s stillness to autumn’s harvest. You don’t need to believe anything in particular about the moon to benefit from a steady, shared rhythm.

Take what resonates and leave the rest.

How It Works

Support Between Sessions

Healing doesn’t only happen in the 90 minutes we’re together. It happens in the quiet, ordinary moments in between. Within includes a private WhatsApp group to carry the work home with you:

  • Monthly PDF prompts: reflection and journaling questions tied to that month’s theme

  • Somatic support videos: short practices to return to anytime you need to ground, regulate, or come back into your body

  • Monthly coloring pages: a wordless way to integrate each month’s element and archetype, for the days when talking or even moving feels like too much

  • A space to be witnessed: share a reflection, ask a question, or simply say “today is hard” to women who understand

This isn’t another place to perform or keep up.

It’s a thread between gatherings: there when you need it, quiet when you don’t.

By the final gathering, each woman has shaped her own Return Story: what she has released, reclaimed, and remembered.

Why a Full Year?

A single retreat can open a door. But it can’t walk you through everything on the other side of it. That takes time, repetition, and community, so new patterns can take root in ordinary life long after the retreat glow fades.

Within is the container that holds you between the big moments: the ordinary Tuesdays, the hard weeks, the slow unfolding that real embodiment requires. Like any true study, it’s meant to be returned to. Each cycle of the moon, and each season, will meet you as a slightly different woman.

For less than the cost of a single retreat weekend, Within offers you a full year of transformation: monthly guidance, community, and practice to help what you experience in a weekend actually take root in daily life.

Investment: A Year of Support

time Early Bird (now until December 31, 2026)

  • $60/month or $720 for the full year

Standard (after December 31, 2026)

  • $75/month or $900 for the full year

Includes all 12 full moon gatherings, the private WhatsApp sisterhood, monthly PDF prompts, somatic support videos, and coloring pages.

We meet each Full Moon at 7pm-8:30pm EST

Pair It With the Retreat (Optional)

Return to Your Body is our in-person somatic healing retreat, a separate offering open to Within members and non-members alike. If you feel called to deepen in person, it’s a natural extension of this work. It is never required to complete your year in Within.

Your Guide

Leslie Slemmons is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and yoga practitioner with 20 years of experience helping people find their way back to safety in their own bodies. Trained in Internal Family Systems (Certified Levels 1 & 2), Pain Reprocessing Therapy, trauma-informed yoga, and somatic practices, she brings clinical depth and lived experience to this work, along with a deep love of creativity, ritual, and humor. Her approach is simple: healing is deeply personal, and she’ll never tell you what it should look like.

As a Filipino American woman, Leslie has spent years noticing how rarely her ancestors’ ways of understanding the body, the spirit, and one another showed up in wellness spaces. Within is her way of bringing them in, gently and honestly, alongside twenty years of clinical training and yoga practice.

Woven through the year are kapwa (the shared self), loob (inner will), hiya, anito (ancestral spirits), and the lineage of the babaylan, the women who once held healing and ritual leadership in their communities. You don’t need to be Filipino to belong here. All women are welcome, and you’ll be invited to explore your own lineage too.
